Temporal Lobe Epilepsy & Memory
Australia & New Zealand only
Invited are people aged 16-64 years from Australia or New Zealand. Participants must have their TLE diagnosis confirmed by either EEG or MRI. The project will be continuing until February 2025.
Pearson Clinical develops and publishes assessments tools are that used by allied health professionals. Their team are the researchers conducting the study to develop the WMS-5 for Australia and New Zealand. The WMS-5 is a comprehensive memory assessment that is often used by psychologists when assessing memory concerns amongst individuals living with epilepsy.
This study with people with TLE will help Pearson Clinical ensure that the WMS-5 provides valid and useful results about memory in people within this group.
The summary information about how the study sample performs on the WMS-5 is provided to psychologists within the WMS-5 test manual so they can better understand how memory concerns might present in people with TLE. This helps these psychologists accurately identify memory concerns and provide appropriate support. This sub-study of TLE and memory is being conducted within a larger test standardisation project we are doing.
